After 9 consecutive weeks in first place, is the sudden drop to second place temporary is still on everyone's lips in Sancratosia.

The 2023-2023 MicroNations League Trophy Season surprised more than one when the AF Sancratosia emerged as the team posting the best score early in the season. And people in Sancratosia were even more in disbelief when La Cuatrida started its 9 consecutive weeks in 1st place before the mid-season.

But, since week 14, the team started having a slump. Not that they were not posting good scores, actually they kept posting scores that were average and within what they’ve been showing since the start of the season. What brought them down were the performances of their competitors which seemed to have gotten a wake up call. Trades were made and AF Sancratosia’s place was now being threatened by the regular top seeds of the league.

Notably, Shedingeh, who, when the AF Sancratosia was starting its impressive 9 weeks on top was working from overcoming their 6th place in the league, progressively passing their adversaries and taking the 1st place just before the mid-season. They remain the biggest threat for the Sancratosian team and, even though it remains reachable, are increasing the gap between our beloved club.

The Lundenwic Lions are also not going to let La Cuatrida or Shedingeh get the top spots. Arguably, with Shedingeh, one of the best teams in the history of the League, they certainly don’t want to finish 3rd, which would be their worst position on the final standings. And they have means to achieve at least a 2nd position with only 33 points separating them from AF Sancratosia.

This position is also challenged by the Versmark FC who would love to finally get a place on the podium at the end of the season.

Eternal 3rd place, the New Weddington Warriors FC are used to incredible comebacks and, even though it is slowly becoming more difficult to overcome their deficit, a position on the podium is still within reach.

With 14 weeks left, the AF Sancratosia will have to increase its average scores per week. Especially when Shedingeh can score 32 points and Sancratosia 18 points finishing both 1st and 2nd for the week, as seen on week 20. Such a deficit in points increases the gap and diminishes the chances of the AF Sancratosia to finish 1st.

One takes solace in knowing that, as the weeks go by, the Sancratosian team solidifies its chances of a podium. But, there are clubs breathing down the neck of our red and white uniform wearers and now, every week counts.
