Culture

Sancratosian culture is diversified and aims to represent the sum of its citizens. It is based around a shared official language, the Lingua Franca Nova, even though it recognizes the use of French and English. It has also been heavily influenced by the founder of the nation, Princess Cloe.

Lingua Franca Nova

Lingua Franca Nova, also known colloquially as Elefen, is the official language of the Principality of Sancratosia. Created by C. George Boeree, this language is an auxiliary language aimed at romance-languages speakers and incorporates elements from creoles of these languages to create a language that can be understood by any romance-speaking individual.

Learn more about Lingua Franca Nova on its official website.

Even though it is not the native language of any of the citizens, it is one of the unifying elements of Sancratosian culture. To help bridge the gap, French and English are recognized as national languages. Citizens have the right to receive communications and documentation in any of these two languages.

Gestuno, Italian and Portuguese are recognized as “promoted languages” which grants them a special legal status.

Cuisine

Sancratosians take pride in the culinary arts. Easy to make comfort food is a staple of Sancratosia. Inspired by cuisine of Quebec, the Sucre à la crème is the official dessert of Sancratosia. With its limited number of ingredients and the ability to recreate the famous dessert in a microwave makes it an ideal recipe to try at home. Watch the recipe on YouTube.
